Bakersfield, United States - September 16, 2025 09/15/2025 10:20 pm GMT-0700 BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – A search is underway for a driver who was involved in a hit-and-run traffic collision that killed a pedestrian Monday night in the 3500 block of Union Avenue. Officers responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian collision and found an adult male with severe injuries lying in the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Preliminary investigations indicated the pedestrian was walking eastbound outside of a crosswalk when he was hit by a vehicle. While still down in the roadway, he was struck a second time by another vehicle. Police indicated that the driver of the first vehicle, an adult male, remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Investigators said he showed no signs of impairment, and speed did not appear to be a factor. The second vehicle fled the scene. The responding agencies were the Bakersfield Police Department and the Bakersfield Fire Department.
