Los Angeles, United States - October 02, 2025 10/01/2025 10:04 pm GMT-0700 CARSON, Calif. – A geyser of water shot dozens of feet into the air Wednesday after a high-pressure fire hydrant was sheared off in the 20800 block of South Santa Fe Avenue, flooding streets and snarling traffic. Los Angeles County firefighters fought against the torrent, searching through rising water as they worked to locate the underground shutoff valve. After a lengthy effort, crews finally shut off the flow that had turned the roadway into a river. It is believed a vehicle slammed into the hydrant and fled the scene, according to initial reports. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is investigating.
