Los Angeles, United States - December 26, 2024 12/26/2024 03:10 am (GMT-0800) HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES – LAPD's Hollywood Division officers and the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a solo-vehicle crash into a fire hydrant in the 6500 block of West Santa Monica Boulevard. When first responders arrived on the scene, they found a Honda Civic on the sidewalk with a nearby hydrant the vehicle had sheared, spewing a 100-foot geyser into high-tension power lines. The sole occupant in the Honda self-extricated and was transported with unknown injuries to a local hospital by LAFD paramedics. LAFD could not shut the water off because the water made contact with the power lines. The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power was requested to the scene.
