Rare footage of the critically endangered Sumatran Tiger which was found lurking near a cement factory in Indonesia.

The tiger, estimated to be around two years old, was sedated by conservation officers. With the aid of residents they managed to carry it into a nearby truck.

The tiger had been causing concern among the villagers as it had been entering the settlement to prey on cattle and goats, according to local media.

"The condition of the tiger after it was anaesthetised was still good," said Head of the Padang Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) forestry unit, Zulmi. "The tiger, who was still in his teens allegedly entered a residential area to look for food. There is the possibility it left its mother and was learning to hunt outside its own habitat."

There are only 400 Sumatran tigers left in the world, according to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

The footage was filmed in Karang Putih, in the city of Padang in West Sumatra province on August 29.

This is the moment an extremely rare Sumatran tiger was seen hanging around and evacuated from the mining area of cement factory at Karang Putih, Padang city, Indonesia on August 29, 2018, at around 11:00 p.m.

Video shows the appearance of the two-meter-sized Tiger estimated to be two-years-old in the mining area. Previously, the tiger had entered the settlement and preyed on cattle, causing concern among the local villagers.

Conservation officers were forced to sedate the animal, then with the residents carried it together and put it in a cage on a truck.

Head of the Padang Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) forestry unit, Zulmi, said, "the condition of the tiger after anesthetized was still in good condition. The tiger who was still in his teens was allegedly entered a residential area to look for food. The possibility of being released from the mother and he was learning to hunt out of his habitat, "he said.

The animal is then taken to the Rehabilitation Center for treatment, then it will be immediately released to its habitat.
