A cheeky elephant bull didn’t want to share his watering hole with a herd of thirsty impala antelope.

The footage shows the elephant bull getting angry at the antelope crowding him, when he suddenly charges at them to move away from his spot. The impala briefly scatter but eventually ignore the grumpy bull and go around to get a drink.

“This bull elephant attempted to use his size and intimidating behaviour to scare away all the antelope but in the end he gave up when he saw the impala just kept returning to the water,” says the filmer.

“In the end, the great thirst of these impala antelope drove them past the grumpy elephant and his aggressive behaviour,” he continued.

During a recent safari in Kruger National Park we decided to stop at a natural water hole. This specific water hole held the very last remaining drinking water for wildlife in a very large area. There were a great variety of wildlife coming and going to quench their thirst. The biggest numbers were represented by the impala antelope. During this time two elephant bulls also arrived at the water hole. The number of impala antelope around the water increased and this clearly became way too much for the one cheeky elephant bull to handle. The video shows the one male elephant getting irritated with the antelope. He slowly walked towards the antelope and then suddenly shook his head with his trunk swinging around in an attempt to scare away the antelope from the water. The impala briefly reacted to the threatening behaviour of the elephant. The bull elephant’s intimidation did not last long and some of the antelope made their way back to the water, eager to get a drink. The elephant stopped and stared at the antelope for a short while. Again all of a sudden the male elephant would flap his ears with his head held high and swing his trunk in the direction of the antelope. The antelope would get a quick fright but again some would just walk around the elephant back to the water. This bull elephant attempted to use his size and intimidating behaviour to scare away all the antelope but in the end he gave up when he saw the impala just kept returning to the water. In the end the great thirst of these impala antelope drove them past the grumpy elephant and his aggressive behaviour.
