Blaring sirens and flashing off-road lights Indian forest officials drove a wild elephant out of a town after a mid-night chase.

The wild elephant strayed into Cuttack in eastern India looking for food on December 24. A resident spotted the animal and alerted the forest department.

After a chase through the streets of the town, officials managed to drive the animal back to the forest.
