A spotted deer was rescued from a well in southern India’s Tamil Nadu state on March 11. The operation took place in Vaiyampatti block, located in the state’s Tiruchirappalli district.

Visuals showed a rescue official being lowered to the well, who then tied the deer with a rope for others to pull it out. After it was out of the well, vets examined the deer and found it had sustained wounds at different parts of the body, including the horns.

Subsequent footage showed vets administering medicine to the animal after it was moved to a clinic. A bandage was also tied to one of its horn, to prevent further damage.

The deer was then taken to the forest and monitored for a few minutes.

Uon seeing the not standing up, the officers decided to take it back to the clinic and keep it under observation.

It is understood the deer had fallen inside the well after it failed to notice the open boundary. Though not clear, the incident may have taken place at night time.
