At least a dozen people had a lucky escape after an amusement park ride developed a snag and plummeted 10 feet to the ground in southern India.

The incident, which was filmed on camera, took place on June 18 at the Queensland Amusement Park in Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu state.

Visuals showed 24 visitors enjoying the 'free fall' ride as the two platforms go up and down.

However, it soon turned into horror as the right platform developed the snag.

As it was coming down, the left platform performed as usual, but, the rope holding the right one snapped, causing the platform to free fall for over 10 feet.

Fortunately, no one was seriously injured.

Meanwhile, authorities have asked the amusement park management to shut down the facility for now.

Law enforcement officers alleged the management did not inform the cops about the incident and it only reached them after the video gained traction on social media sites.

A top official said this isn't the first time the amusement park has landed in trouble. They were warned in April too.

Assistant Commissioner Muthuvel Pandi told media police had written to Queensland Amusement Park two months ago, inquiring about the condition of the rides.

The park management, in its response, had given assurance and said everything was functioning well. However, as it turned out, they were not telling the truth.
