A video has emerged of a tiger being rescued from inside a deep well in central India.

The incident took place on Aug. 13 in Katni town of Madhya Pradesh state.

Visual showed the big feline lying on the bottom of the waterless well.

Other footage showed a large group of locals gathering around the well to witness the operation.

Several teams of rescuers were also present at the spot.

Once the tiger was spotted, rescuers used a net to cover the well surrounding, understandably to prevent the big cat from fleeing.

Later, a ladder was lowered inside the well and a few volunteers went in, to tether the tiger and allow the others to pull it out.

Once the belts were fastened, the tiger was enclosed inside a net and pulled out by rescuers.

It was then placed inside a cage and taken to a shelter home for treatment.

Officials said they were informed about the animal's presence in the morning, following which several rescue teams rushed to the spot.

An investigation has been initiated by officials to figure out how the big cat ended up inside the well.
