In a horrid yet inspiring incident, traffic-hit simians were taken to a veterinary hospital 30 kilometres (18.6 miles) away from the accident site in a rickshaw-ambulance in an attempt to save their lives in central India’s Madhya Pradesh.

The incident took place on July 3, when the ambulance driver spotted the animals on Betul-Nagpur Highway in a gravely injured condition in Multai.

According to reports, one of the simians was found in an unconscious state down the highway, while one was severely hit on its head, but was alert.

The auto driver informed the forest department and proceeded to drive both injured animals to the hospital before tending to them by offering them water.

In visuals, a simian can be seen lying out cold and is laid in the rickshaw quickly with the other bleeding profusely from its forehead.

On reaching the hospital, both the animals were treated for and one of the wounded chimps survived, while the other succumbed to its injuries.
