Officials caught stealing liquor from control room in central India
A couple of officials from the Excise Department were caught stealing liquor from the control room of the office in central India's Madhya Pradesh on January 29. The incident took place in Jabalpur district.
CCTV footage witnessing the incident features two uniformed thieves inside the office of the Excise Department during the night. Following this, they begin to transfer containers full of alcohol. While one keeps shifting them, the other glances around to keep a check.
For uniformed thieves, including two Sub-Inspectors and two constables from the Excise Department were caught stealing 172 bottles of liquor from the control room of the office. Two involved in the robbery were already suspended two days before the incident.
The Excise Department on February 6 suspended the two constables and registered a First Information Report (FIR) against them. When the matter escalated, the Gorakhpur police registered a case under section 408 under the Indian Penal Code and 34(2) Excise Act against the four.
The two constables, identified as Rakesh Bohre and Zainadar Pyasi, and two Sub-Inspectors, identified as Neeraj Dubey and Sudhir Mishra, were involved in the robbery.
On further investigation, it was discovered that the four accused broke into the room and stole 172 bottles of liquor kept in the control room, under the case of crime number 04/18, which is pending in the court.
