Forest official apprehends poacher in central India

The Forest Department has apprehended a poacher with the meat of a spotted deer in central India's Madhya Pradesh on February 18. The incident took place in Chacheri village in the Balaghat district.

A video shows the officials apprehending the accused, and seizing the meat and head of a spotted deer from him. They assemble the items near him, while the others witness and behold the occurrence.

The 20-year-old accused, identified as Vinod, a resident of Chacheri village, was apprehended by the forest officials. They recovered both cooked and raw meat of Chital, a spotted deer, along with its head from him. On further interrogation, the accused revealed the name of his accomplices, and the authorities are in search of them.

A team consisting of Pankaj Sharma, Saurabh Choubey Vanpal, Foresters, Narendra Bansod, Rajesh Pandey, and Manish Sinha, Forest Guards, Himanshu Deharwal and Gajendra Bisen, Kamal Kishore Pandey, and Deendayal Patle, handled this mission and caught the accused. All of them have been charged under section 2/9/39/50 of the Wildlife Protection Act 1972, and have been presented in the Balaghat court. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
