Officials in Nakhon Ratchasima province in northern Thailand battle through a tropical storm that caused mudslides and flash floods, blocking roads on Monday (April 12).

Rocks and torrents of muddy water gush from hillsides blocking the rural roads after the thunderstorm.

District chief Krai Raeng-ngan was on his way home after finishing work when he saw a female driver who was asking for help as her car was stuck.

After helping her, he braved the downpour to direct other cars.

Krai said: "I had to help her but also had to remain cautious all the time because more of the rocks might have fallen onto the road at any moment."

"I kicked the rocks out of the way and was injured, but later people who were scared to leave their cars came and helped me."

Thailand and other countries in Southeast Asia, such as Malaysia and Indonesia, are approaching their annual monsoon rainy season, which sees regular tropical downpours, thunderstorms, and flash floods.
