A tourist was found sprawled in the road covered in blood after allegedly being attacked by bouncers outside a sex bar in 'Sin City' Pattaya.

Toni Mikael, 47, is said to have been bundled to the ground causing him to injure his head in the depraved red-light district in eastern Thailand on March 27.

The tourist, from Finland, was found rolling around on the ground in pain. Police officers arrived and directed traffic before the holidaymaker was taken to the hospital.

Toni said he was drunk at the time but claims he was attacked by the guards outside 'Cobra Lounge', where women can be bought for as little as 500 Baht (11.32 GBP).

He said: 'I didn't do anything wrong. They pushed me. They pushed me over for no reason.'

Footage shows the middle-aged foreign man was seen on the ground calling out in pain when police officers try to move him. Paramedics then help him to his feet.

A Pattaya City Police Station spokesman said: 'We had to stop the incident while coordinating with rescue officers to help the injured man. They were given first aid.'

Police Colonel Kullachart Kullachai later said that guards outside the bar had denied attacking the tourist. They told officers that 'he fell over'.

The police chief, who has now closed the case, said: 'We believe that the tourist was drunk and fell over himself. We do not believe he was attacked.'

There are frequent violent attacks on tourists in the notorious Pattaya City area of Chonburi province.

Just two weeks before the sex bar attack, an elderly tourist was punched by security guards at an entertainment complex on Soi Buakhao, which is a red-light district popular with British ex-pats and tourists.

Pattaya was once a sleepy fishing village but after American troops began visiting on 'R & R' trips during the Vietnam War, dozens of bars opened. There are now tens of thousands of sex workers in the city catering to holidaymakers round-the-clock.
