A hero resident carefully cut a square hole in the wall to rescue a trapped kitten.

Nutthawut Nangsamthat, 28, was at home with family when he heard a strange crying noise from the wall next to the kitchen in Ayutthaya province, Thailand on July 1.

The animal-loving electrician realised there was a cat stuck behind the wooden wall so he took his tools and made a precise hole so he could pull the cat out.

Footage shows the resident drilling four holes on the wall before using a hacksaw blade to cut out a square gap.

Nutthawut said: ‘The little cat needed my help so I cut a hole on our wall. There was no time to waste to reach the kitten and I figured out I could just fix the wall later.'

The cat lover pulled out a newborn kitten from the hole which they believe fell from the roof where a stray mother cat had given birth.

Resident Nutthawut adopted the feline which they fed milk as it was too young to eat solid cat food yet. The family named the cat 'Roo'.

He added: 'The little kitten was stuck in our wall so we'll raise him as a family pet.'
