A lucky bullfrog managed to escape the clutches of a tree snake which had been throwing it around a family’s fence.

Grizz Thomas was getting ready to take his son to daycare on March 7 when he heard a loud squealing coming from his backyard in Townsville, North Queensland, Australia.

Dramatic footage shows a yellow tree snake slithering over the 31-year-old’s fence while a large green bullfrog was gripped between its jaws while it thrashed against the wall.

As the frog squealed like a "cat getting baptised" the snake dangled it off the edge of the fence before it finally leapt free on to the ground below.

Grizz said: “I was a bit after 8 am and I was out in the backyard having a coffee before taking my son to daycare.

“I heard the frog going off its head and it struck me as strange, so I looked into my pool yard and noticed something long and yellow.

“I went over and found the snake had bitten a large green frog. It was going off like a cat getting baptised.

“I didn't help the frog for several reasons. I don't mess with snakes.

“I got bitten by a brown snake when I was about 20 and this is Australia, unless you know what you're doing, you probably shouldn't mess with snakes around here.

“Also, who am I to deprive a snake of a meal? It's the vicious circle of life. It’s not my place to intervene in one animal feeding off another.

“I was surprised about the speed of the snake moving through the tree. It was like a bloody rocket.

“Snakes are pretty common around here, but it was pretty cool to see this event unfold. Snakes and frogs are beautiful creatures.

“This frog has been living in our pool yard for several years now too and he's still here and kicking.”
