Conjoined twins successfully separated in 2-hour operation in eastern China

One-month-old conjoined twins have been successfully separated in eastern China.

The video was filmed in the city of Hangzhou in Zhejiang Province on October 26.

The conjoined twin sisters were reportedly born with their abdominal skin connected to each other and using the same umbilical cord.

Since the younger sister has congenital heart disease. Medical workers put the twins in an incubator to take care of them for around a month until the younger sister gained weight to 2.3kg.

After a two-hour operation, doctors successfully separated the twins.

According to reports, conjoined infants are extremely rare, with an incidence rate of about one in 100,000.

It was the first conjoined infant separation operation in Zhejiang Province since it had the country's first ischial conjoined infant separation surgery in 2000.

The older sister is in good condition and the doctors will give cardiac surgery to the younger sister later.
