Indonesian authorities set traps after Sumatran tigers spotted several times in the village
Indonesian conservation officers set traps after Sumatran tigers spotted entering villages.
Footage filmed in Nagari Koto Nopan, Pasaman Regency, West Sumatra Province on December 29, shows the Regent of Pasaman and Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) officers arriving at the trapping site.
The Regent of Pasaman, Benny Utama, said the residents disturbed in the last few weeks by tigers that entered the settlements and preyed on their pets.
"In the last two weeks, residents have seen tigers in the village three times. Some people were even intercepted by the Sumatran tiger when they were going home at night," Regent Benny said.
West Sumatra BKSDA officers set traps in two locations, with 2 goats being put into the traps as bait.
If they manage to catch it, the officers will again release the Sumatran tiger to its habitat, so that it remains sustainable and the community can return to their activities comfortably.
