Residents rescued a massive wild python along a flooded drain during a storm in the Philippines.

Jeth Lindero and neighbours found the 15ft-long serpent swimming along the muddy deluge in Zamboanga City on January 11.

The snake poked its head out of the water until concerned residents dragged it out so it could be relocated.

Footage shows the villagers renched in rainwater pulling the creature off the drain.

Local Jeth said: ‘Three snakes were found around our street. This was the last one.

‘I think the snakes escaped their nests because our area was flooded when the heavy rain fell.'

When one of his neighbours took hold of the snake's head, more residents ran up to him to help catch it.

Jeth added: ‘The snake seemed scared and resisted but it was finally caught.'

The residents turned over the creature to the local wildlife agency.
