A greedy python choked to death after swallowing two pigeons and being stuck in a narrow ceiling.

Footage shows the serpent's head up to half its upper body poking out of a gap and hanging down from a home in Ratchaburi Province, Thailand, on April 23.

The snake slithered inside, chasing the nesting birds, and successfully feasted on the prey but met a freak accident being trapped on its way out.

Its stomach was pinched in the tight space and was left in an awkward position until it suffocated and died.

Resident Nethisada Thitasiri said: ‘I saw the snake when I opened the window in the kitchen while cooking. I was so shocked. I went outside and realised it was already dead.

‘There was a python that kept eating the pigeons on our roof, I think that was the same snake. Its body was bulging with the birds, and we couldn't pull it out easily.'

The creature was eventually removed and buried in the backyard after being found.
