Driver leaps out of truck as vehicle with faulty brakes plunges off road into ditch
The driver of a truck with faulty brakes leapt out of the vehicle before it plunged off road into a ditch.
Taken on the Padang-Bukittinggi Road in West Sumatra on September 15, the orange truck appears with a smashed front end and broken glass.
The driver attempts to escape through the window, thereafter clinging to the door.
The truck gradually accelerates towards the roadside.
Just as the truck veers off the road and crashes onto the railway tracks beside it, the driver jumps to safety.
Septia Rini, who filmed the moment, expressed her gratitude towards the driver for taking swift action to steer the truck away from the multiple vehicles ahead.
Padang Panjang Resort Traffic Police reported that the occurrence was initiated due to the truck, loaded with cooking oil and daily necessities, experiencing brake problems while passing through the location.
The truck collided with a wall situated on the right side of the road before ricocheting to the opposite side and grazing a minibus in the opposite direction.
"After colliding with the minibus, the truck came to a halt for 10 minutes before sliding down the ravine with its engine turned off, resulting in injury to the driver," stated Head of Traffic Division AKP Aldy Lazzuardy.
