Customs officials seize gold in powder form from passenger's pants in southern India

Officials of the Hyderabad customs caught and seized gold, which was being smuggled in dust form, concealed in a pant, in southern India's Telangana.

This incident happened at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad on October 16.

Visuals showed the gold being revealed from inside the pant. One of the officials was seen cutting open the pant before tearing it up and revealing the gold in dust form, along the torn parts of the garment. According to a report, the passenger was travelling from Ras Al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates.

The customs officials intercepted the passenger and found the gold, which weighs 175 grams (0.385 lbs) and worth Rs 10.82 lakh ($12,996.68). The gold was seized by the officials.
