A brave man saved an elderly person washed away in raging water in northern China.

The video was filmed in Xi'an City in Shaanxi Province on October 21.

An 85-year-old person and a woman accidentally fell from a bridge and were washed away by the raging water.

One quick-thinking man, upon seeing the duo in distress, didn't hesitate for a second. Dropping his backpack, he plunged into the waters to mount a daring rescue. And, just when the situation seemed dire, two more young men joined the first, braving the fierce currents to come to the aid of the stranded pair.

Spectators at the scene estimated the water's depth to be around 1 metre but emphasised the swiftness of the current, highlighting the life-threatening danger the victims were in.

The combined efforts of the trio bore fruit, and within minutes, both the elderly man and the woman were pulled to safety.
