Heroic residents in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, managed to rescue a baby that was precariously dangling from an apartment roof.

Footage from April 28 shows the 8-month-old baby with its legs hanging off the flat's roof with panicked locals watching on.

Rithika, who filmed the video, captured the heroic rescue as a couple of residents climbed through a window from the apartment below as a team of locals held a sheet in case the toddler fell.

Fortunately, the baby was taken in safely by a man who climbed through the window.

A senior officer from the local police force said the child's parents, Venkatesh and Ramya, lived on the fourth floor of the building. Whilst the mother was playing with her daughter she slipped out of her hands and landed on the sunshade below.

A baby girl ( 6 years ) named Kiranmayee who was stuck on the edge of a temporary sunshade of an apartment building near Avadi was rescued by neighbours on Sunday. She has been admitted to a private hospital in Egmore and is doing fine.

According to filmer of this video , Rithika - y yesterday (28.4.24) around 11:00 Am we all heard a massive sound of something falling down.. immediately after hearing the sound we all freaked out..it almost took 1 minute for us to understand what exactly happened after seeing the baby on metal sheet we all started to scream and started calling for help.. Thank god everybody came so quick and initiated the act of rescue they were trying around 5mintues to rescue the toddler they were all set to save the toddler even if it falls down. They arranged a bed and covering it with car covers and all ..simultaneously people were trying to rescue the toddler from 1st floor balcony thank god finally an uncle saved the toddler safely by lifting it so carefully.. The baby is around 8 months old


A senior officer of the Avadi Police Commissionerate said baby along with her parents Venkatesh and Ramya lived on the fourth floor of the apartment complex, when Ms. Ramya was playing with her daughter on the balcony, her hands slipped, and the baby landed on the temporary sunshade below. Noticing the infant on the edge of the roof, residents on the ground floor held a tautly stretched bed sheet, hoping to catch her safely in case she falls. Meanwhile, a few men broke open a glass window on the second floor of the building and tried to rescue the baby. One of them managed to grab hold of the infant, and with help of the others, safely got her down from the sunshade.
She had small scratches in the hands and legs and swelling on head , but is safe .
