The gold mine landslide disaster in Gorontalo, Indonesia killed 11 people, dozens of others are still being searched for.


A landslide occurred at a traditional gold mine in East Tulabolo Village, East Suwawa District, Bone Bolango Regency, Gorontalo Province, Indonesia in the early hours of Sunday 7 July 2024.


A total of 11 people who died have been identified, while dozens of other people are still being searched for.

It is estimated that around 40 people were reported missing by their families.

Information update at 14.40 WITA, Monday (8/7/2024), a joint team consisting of BPBD, Basarnas, police-army and the community continues to search for missing victims.

The search and rescue of gold mining landslide victims continues to be carried out by a joint SAR team.

It was reported that 31 victims had been successfully evacuated by a joint SAR team consisting of Basarnas Gorontalo and the police and army.

Of this number, 11 people died, while 20 people managed to survive the debris from the landslide at the gold mine.

Meanwhile, 40 other victims are still being searched by the Joint Team. This data is a report received by Basarnas Gorontalo from residents who felt they had lost their families.

From residents' reports, to date only two people have been successfully evacuated by the joint team.
