On July 27, Bai Lang Town in Zixing, southern China, faced a dire situation as 11 residents were trapped by rising floodwaters due to the impact of typhoon Gaemi. The affected individuals, living in low-lying areas or near riverbanks, found themselves in immediate danger and unable to escape on their own.

Upon receiving the distress call, local fire and rescue teams swiftly mobilized, equipped with necessary water rescue gear. Confronting the raging flood and rapid currents, rescuers employed rope traversing techniques. They threw ropes across the floodwaters to the stranded individuals and guided them to secure the lines.

Once safety was ensured, the rescue personnel used full-body safety harnesses to secure the trapped residents. They then utilized a pulley zip line system to successfully pull all 11 individuals to safety.

Recent torrential rains, brought on by typhoon Gaemi, have severely affected the region, with Bai Lang Town's Songtang station recording a maximum rainfall of 438.6 mm. The intense downpour led to swollen rivers, damaged villages, and roads, posing significant threats to the lives and property of the local population.
