This is the moment a power bank exploded causing a fire that burned paperwork in an office.

The storage battery was being charged when it burst into flames which quickly spread to the documents lying beside it on the table in Pathum Thani, Thailand.

CCTV footage shows the blaze bursting from the power bank in front of an employee on August 26.

Its owner backed away and pulled it to fall on the ground before she used a mat to put out the fire.

The employee and owner of the accessory Manatsanan Chanpakdee said: ‘I had been using it for ten months. I charge it for 30 minutes and use it on my phone.

‘I bought it from an online store. I was screaming when it happened. What if I was holding it in my hand when the fire started? I was terrified.'

The fire was eventually extinguished and didn't spread to other parts of the office.

Manatsanan reported the fire to the store where she bought it and was given 1,500 baht in compensation.

She said: ‘They asked for evidence to support the compensation, and apologised to me for what happened.'

No one was hurt by the fire.
