Excavator used to remove huge python from chicken coop
Rescuers used an excavator to remove a huge python from a chicken coop durnig a storm.
Ruamkatanyu Foundation volunteers were called to a farm during a rainy evening when the owner found a 20ft snake attacking the birds in a shed in Pathum Thani, Thailand on October 2.
Footage shows the team members using poles to secure the head of the reptile while they stand on the roof of the enclosure. The terrified chickens huddled on the corner during the operation.
One of them attached the pole's end to the heavy equipment's bucket, which easily dragged the animal out.
Animal rescue worker Prapon said: ‘The farmer drove the excavator to help us. It was raining, and the ground was slippery. The python could easily escape with its size, so we needed a hand.'
The excavator lifted the snake out and took it to the ground safely, with the snake trying to coil around the pole.
Rescuers took the snake with them and released it into its habitat.
The reticulated python is found throughout Southeast Asia, where they live in forests, swamps, canals and even in cities, causing them to come into conflict with humans. The species is one of the world's largest snakes and can eat humans, cats, dogs, birds, rats and other snakes.
Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are at the start of their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms. The rudimentary infrastructure often struggles with the deluge, leading to widespread flash floods.
