Selfie Craze Turns Deadly: Tourist Clings to Rock After Falling Into Parvati River, Rescued Just in Time
Script:
The growing obsession with selfies by rivers is turning into a dangerous trend. A tourist had a narrow escape from death this morning in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district, all because of a risky selfie attempt near the Parvati River in the scenic Manikaran Valley.
Thousands of tourists visit Kasol and Manikaran every day, drawn to the crystal-clear waters of the Parvati River. But many forget that mountain rivers are swift and deceptive — with strong currents and hidden depths that are hard to gauge.
One tourist slipped and fell into the river while trying to take a selfie near Kasol. Luckily, he managed to cling to a rock midstream. But the icy waters made it nearly impossible to hold on for long.
Thankfully, staff from a nearby hotel spotted him just in time and rushed to pull him out of the water.
It was a close call — a moment of carelessness for a click could have cost him his life. While the mountains are breathtaking, visitors are urged to enjoy them responsibly.
