JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. — On the morning of June 28, a Jefferson County Sheriff's deputy responded to a vehicle break-in with an unexpected suspect — a black bear.

The incident occurred in the foothills, where the bear managed to enter a parked car, leaving behind what deputies described as “a mess only a bear could appreciate.” Although the bear was eventually able to exit the vehicle, the event served as a reminder of just how easily wildlife can find its way into unsecured spaces.

The sheriff’s office advised residents to always lock their vehicles, even at home, and to remove any food or scented items that might attract animals. “Bears are good at breaking into vehicles, but not so good at getting out,” the agency noted.
