Bakersfield, United States - July 18, 2025 07/18/2025 12:28 am GMT-0700 BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Early Friday morning, the Kern County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a report of a man firing a gun from a residence and the backyard on the 200 block of Washington Avenue in Oildale. Initial reports indicated a female and sleeping children were inside the home, and the man was in possession of a shotgun and possibly hallucinating. Upon arrival, officers heard active gunfire coming from the backyard. They quickly established a perimeter and confronted the suspect from the rear alley. The suspect was taken into custody without incident and transported by Hal Ambulance to a nearby hospital for evaluation. The situation is currently under investigation, and no further information is available at this time.
