Sandy Springs Police Mistake Deer for Car Theft Suspects
SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — A late-night search for suspected car burglars took an unexpected turn when Sandy Springs police officers discovered the “suspects” were actually deer.
Around 12:43 a.m. Sept. 27, officers responded to reports of two men trying car door handles in a neighborhood. Witnesses spotted the suspects fleeing on foot, prompting a search of the area.
While officers initially located two figures in the dark, they quickly realized the shapes were deer, not suspects. The actual individuals remain at large.
Police shared the incident with humor, noting the deer “hoofed it out of there” before questioning.
