MANSFIELD, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is reminding drivers that bridges and overpasses can freeze before the rest of the roadway, creating dangerous conditions with little warning.

In a video shared from November, a trooper was responding to a truck that had slid off the road on Interstate 71 in Mansfield when another truck lost control on the same bridge. The incident highlights how quickly winter weather can change driving conditions and how hazardous icy surfaces can be for motorists and first responders alike.

Troopers urge drivers to slow down, increase following distance and allow extra travel time during winter weather. Officials stress that arriving late is far better than risking a crash on icy roads.
