Hemet Fire Department responded to reports of a major crash between two pickup trucks at the intersection of Mayberry Ave and San Jacinto Ave. Callers to 911 also stated that one of the parties involved in the collision left the scene on foot and that a victim, possibly female, was trapped in the other vehicle. Arriving crews located a dark grey Ford pickup with major damage that crashed into a pole after the crash with the other pickup and almost went through a house at the intersection. The victim vehicle was a black dodge ram with major damage and was occupied by one trapped party that required a physical extrication to be removed from the wreckage. The victim suffered major injuries and was transported by ground by AMR to Hemet Valley Hospital where Mercy Air Medical Helicopter was waiting to transport the victim to a local trauma center. Officers arrived with a bloodhound and began searching for the suspect described as a white male wearing a button up shirt and carrying a backpack. THe suspect remains outstanding as of this time and an active search continues. The collision is suspected to have been caused by the suspect running the stop sign. It's unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor. The intersection of Mayberry and San Jacinto has been closed off pending the conclusion of a crime scene investigation. CHP INDIO CAD N 00032
