Firefighters in Makassar, Indonesia, rescued a cat that was trapped down a well with snakes for two days.

Footage from October 18 shows a lone firefighter being lowered down into the 1-metre-deep pit towards the feline.

One clip shows a snake slithering across the cat's back.

The rescue team managed to pull the cat from out of the well and handed it back to local residents.

This is the heartwarming moment of rescuing the cat fell and was trapped in a 10-meter-deep well for two days in Indonesia.

Footage filmed in Makassar city, South Sulawesi province, on Monday (October 18), shows a ginger cat curled up at the bottom of a well as a snake crosses its back.

Rescue officers from the Makassar city fire department were called in to rescue the cat.

Chief of the Makassar city fire brigade, Hidayatullah, said that the discovery of the cat began when locals heard the sound of a cat coming from an old well that was not being used.

The next day, locals tried to help get the cat out, but were unsuccessful due to limited equipment, so they asked firefighters for help.

"The rescue team uses BA (breathing apparatus) as a respiratory aid to anticipate if there is gas or toxic substances in the well," Hidayatullah said.

Rescue team who went into the well saw a lot of snake cubs near the weak looking cat.

Officers rushed to catch the cat, then put it in a sack to be immediately brought to the well surface.

Successfully evacuated cat was handed over to local residents. Locals feed the cat and let it bask.

Officers asked residents to cover the surface of the well so that no more animals or people would fall into it.
