Locals in Miri Pathar, Assam, restrained a lost elephant calf until officials arrived to reunite it with its herd.

Footage from October 28 shows the locals feeding the calf in an attempt to calm it down.

Rope and cloth was used to tie to elephant down to back of an official's rescue truck where it was driven off back to its herd.

A baby elephant got separated from its herd in northeastern India's Assam on October 28. The incident took place in Miri Pathar, located in the Golaghat district.

Visuals feature the locals parading around the troubled baby elephant. They caress the poor thing to calm it down, following which the group feeds it some greens. Later, they cover its eyes with a cloth and tie its legs together to put the baby pachyderm in the back of the rescue vehicle.

An elephant calf got separated from its herd and strayed towards a village. Following this, the locals alerted the rescuers, who arrived at the spot and took the baby jumbo away.
