Beauty salon owners in Indonesia were shocked by the presence of a rat snake in his business.

According to the salon owner, Riri (44), the incident began when she opened her business on Friday morning, October 29.

Arriving inside the salon, Riri will wash towels near the salon bench, and hear a hissing sound from downstairs.

"I looked at the floor, there was a snake near my feet," Riri said.

Animal rescue team from the Bukittinggi Fire Department who was called by the salon owner found a snake hiding behind a makeup tools box.

The snake was caught under the dressing table, but escaped and went under the washback chair until it was caught there.

"Luckily it wasn't a venomous snake. The salon owner contacted us because he was afraid of a snake attack," Yudho Algama, head of the Bukittinggi Fire Department's rescue section said.

Rescuers put the snake into a sack to be released back into its habitat far from residential areas.
