A rat snake panicked car owners in Indonesia. He had disassembled the car, but the snake was nowhere to be found.

Footage filmed in Bukittinggi City, West Sumatra Province, today (13 April) shows an animal rescue team from the reptile-lovers community being called to remove the snake from the car.

Andi Ardi, 35, car owner said, when he was going to take his son to school, his son saw a snake get under the car and then climb into the engine.

“I opened the hood and saw the brown-black snake crawling near the battery and then disappeared. I was scared, we didn't dare get into the car until the snake was found," Ardi said.

He asked his neighbors for help, who are used to catching snakes, but they didn't find any of the reptiles either.

The car owner had also called a mechanic from the auto repair shop to disassemble the car so the snake was found and caught, but failed.

"We made sure the snake was still in the car, because several family members watching the car didn't see the snake coming out," Ardi added.

Meanwhile, Edi Warman, 47, a snake catcher, said that it was suspected to be a coffee snake, a type of rat-eating snake that is less than one meter long. It can bite but is harmless to humans.

“The search for snakes was carried out alternately from morning to evening, but the snake was not found. It is estimated that he got out of the car when things were quiet," Warman said.

Car owners suggest putting camphor or something similar to get the snake out of the car.
