A python stopped traffic on a busy road in central India's Chhattisgarh.

The incident happened at the Sharda Vihar gate in Korba City in the eponymous district on June 16.

Visuals showed the huge reptile along the divider of a road. The traffic had come to a halt at the sight of the snake. There were some people who were seen standing on the divider to catch a glimpse of the snake, which reportedly was seven feet long.

According to reports, the snake was crossing the road after having come out from behind a bank. People were stunned to see the huge snake on the road.

A snake rescue team was informed to take care of the situation. Under president Jitendra Sarathi, the rescue team reached the spot. Video footage showed the huge snake being caught by its mouth and neck and put into a white bag. The reptile's capture brought a huge relief to the crowd present at the spot.

It was learnt that the seven-foot-long python was released into the wild subsequently. Sarathi, whose team pulled off the job, also informed that as many as 42 snakes have been rescued in the past two days amidst the rain.

Some of them escaped before the rescue team reached the spot. Also, the number of these snakes appearing in reports is likely to increase.
