A massive female python and about two dozen of its babies were found near a temple in central India's Chhattisgarh.

The incident happened near a drain in a garden beside the Sarvamangala temple in the Korba district on July 10.

Visuals show snake catcher Jitendra Sarathi and his team capturing the reptiles. The baby snakes were taken and put into a sack. One of the men was seen trying to catch the female python with a stick.

Since she was difficult to catch, the men who were conducting the rescue operation, used the little reptiles to lure the mother python. Sarathi was seen putting the small snakes on top of the female python in order to lure and catch it. The massive python was very aggressive and wasn't easy to catch.

After a lot of effort, they were able to catch hold of the 8.5-9 feet long snake. It was learnt that with the onset of monsoon, a lot of snakes have started appearing in the area which has created quite a scare amongst the people.

Sarathi and his team had been informed about these baby snakes a night before and they reached the spot and rescued them. The next morning, they once again visited the spot to look for the mother python and were successfully able to capture and rescue it. Additionally, he says that more baby snakes can be found in the area and they would rush to rescue them as and when they are informed.

Sarathi also injured himself when the female python bit him while being rescued.
