This is the terrifying moment a huge wild python slithered across a family's bathtub as it eyed two pet kittens for dinner.

The 12ft long reptile is believed to have emerged from the toilet before crawling across the bathroom in Bangkok, Thailand, on Wednesday evening, September 7.

Two fascinated kittens watched as the beast reared its head at them, separated only by the sheet of glass in the full length-window.

The snake clearly thought that cat supper was on the menu that evening as they watched, almost hypnotized by its winding movements.

However, shocked resident Nada Teenmaw spotted the scary situation after arriving home from work. She watched the python aim for her kittens sitting behind the glass window and sprung into action to keep them away from two-month-old siblings Carbon and Senriw.

Nada contacted the emergency services who sent a snake removal team as she was worried for her own safety and her 14 pet cats at home.

Nada said: 'I hope this happens to nobody else. I saw how my two-month-old kittens Carbon and Senriw were staring at the python. If I didn't come back, my kittens would have been eaten alive.'

Two reptile handler volunteers caught the creature using a stick and stuffed it in a plastic bag. They ensured Nada that they would release the snake far away from her property.

Nada added: 'I'm worried the snake could come back. It knows there is food in my house and wants to eat my pets.'

The reticulated python like the one in the video is found throughout Southeast Asia, where they live in forests, swamps, canals and even in cities, causing them to come into conflict with humans. The species is one of the world's largest snakes and can eat humans, cats, dogs, birds, rats and other snakes.
