Officers Rescue Elderly Mothers Trapped in Heavy Floods in Gorontalo, Indonesia Affected by 6 sub-districts
A major flood disaster occurred in the Gorontalo City area, Gorontalo Province, Indonesia, spreading to inundate six of the nine sub-districts in Gorontalo City.
"The floods that have occurred since Wednesday, July 10 2024, have become increasingly widespread. Until now, July 11, 2024, in a total of nine sub-districts, the flood has inundated six sub-districts in the Gorontalo City area," said Mahmud Baderan, Head of the Gorontalo City Regional Disaster Management Agency on Thursday. July 11, 2024.
He said the worst floods inundated the Dumbo Raya and West City sub-districts with water levels reaching adult chests.
According to him, the flood was caused by high rainfall which triggered the overflow of the Bone and Bolango Rivers, plus river flow from Lake Limboto.
The flood also uprooted large trees and hit residents' houses when the swift flood flow hit residential areas.
