In a heartwarming rescue in eastern India's Odisha, a baby elephant and its mother were safely rescued from an irrigation canal.

The incident took place near the Sapua Dam in Hindol district on August 31.

Visuals showed the baby elephant alongside his mother struggling in a knee-deep canal, attempting to escape. Concerned locals gathered around, anxiously observing the elephants' distress. The mother elephant, determined and desperate, made repeated efforts to climb out of the canal, and eventually, both were seen successfully stepping out, rescuing themselves.

According to reports, the rescue operation was carried out in the early hours of the day by the Hindol Forest Range team in coordination with the irrigation department.
