Passenger saved when he falls while trying to board moving train
A clumsy passenger was saved when he fell while trying to board a moving train in India.
The commuter Rajendra Mangilal, 40, began running towards the Lok Shakti Express coach as it left the Andheri Railway in Mumbai on February 16.
However, as the rushed man stepped onto the moving train, he lost his balance, finding himself trapped between the vehicle and the platform.
CCTV shows how heroic Assistant Sub-Inspector Pahup Singh of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) ran towards the passenger and pulled him to safety.
Relieved Rajendra thanked the officer for saving his life.
He said that he was running late and tried to board the moving express with his valid ticket. He was on his way to Ahmedabad when the incident happened.
Officials have advised passengers not to board moving trains, as such actions can result in serious injuries or fatalities.
In a separate incident, a pensioner lost her balance and fell from a slowly moving coach while disembarking at Kanpur Central Station in Uttar Pradesh on January 13. Quick-thinking Constable S.R. Godara of the RPF acted swiftly to prevent a tragedy by grabbing her hand and pulling her to safety.
On November 3, a passenger fell onto the tracks at Kanpur Railway Station while trying to board a moving train. She grabbed the door handle but was dragged before falling. Onlookers pulled the emergency chain, and when the train stopped, they helped her off the tracks.
The Indian Railways serves as the largest daily traffic transporter in the country, connecting various regions of India through its extensive network.
With an average of more than 12,817 trains running daily, it plays a crucial role in transporting around 24 million passengers nationwide.
However, the country's massive population of more than a billion - many of them undeveloped - means coaches are often overcrowded, leading to travel chaos.
