SLIDELL, La. — A routine traffic stop by Slidell police turned into a global talking point after officers uncovered more than $1,500 worth of stolen meat from a Walmart.

The Slidell Police Department said officers stopped a car for having no brake lights and noticed two men behaving nervously. A records check revealed one of the men had an outstanding warrant. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a large quantity of stolen meat packed inside.

Body camera footage shared by the department shows the unusual find, which officers dubbed “A High Steaks Traffic Stop.” The incident has since drawn attention online for its unusual nature and lighthearted commentary, but the suspects now face criminal charges.
