A youth was badly beaten up in an Indian village for making a Tik Tok video using the photo of a local girl without her consent.

A horrifying video shows the 20-year-old man held against a pillar as residents of the village near Saharanpur in North India beat him with a ‘lathi’ or a thick wooden stick.

Villagers can be overheard angrily demanding him to delete the video.

The accused had made the video using the photo of a local girl and his own voice in the background. The video came to the attention of the girl’s family, who complained to the ‘panchayat’ or village leaders.

The leaders ordered that the youth be thrashed to set an example for others. They also asked the man’s father to take the lead in the punishment and beat him first.

Local police said they had not received any complaint but were still probing the incident.

Village panchayats in India are notorious for handing out instant vigilante justice.
