This was the heart-stopping moment three women managed to escape a speeding truck just before it ran over them.

The three women were waiting for a bus on the Chettipalayam-Palladam road near Coimbatore in southern India on November 2. As the pavement had been dug up to repair an underlying sewer they were standing on the edge of the road.

A heavy cement mixer truck sped on their way threatening to run over them. The women saw the oncoming truck and leapt back in the nick of time to save their lives. One woman fell into the sewer in the bid to dodge the truck.

All three were apparently unhurt and took the bus, which arrived right after the scary incident.

Local residents said accidents involving heavy trucks were common on the road and urged officials to build speed breakers.

Local police said they are tracing the reckless truck driver with the helo of CCTV footage and would arrest him soon.
