A woman hit the jackpot in central India's Madhya Pradesh when she found a 2.08 carat diamond.

The incident happened on May 24 at the Panna district.

The woman, identified as Chameli Rani, stumbled upon the precious jewel at a shallow mine in Kalyanpur.

Accompanied by her husband, she deposited the precious jewel at the diamond office.

The diamond, which is worth between Rs 8 and Rs 10 lakhs (USD 10,323.71- USD 12,906.72) would be auctioned and the proceeds would be given to her after deduction of government taxes.

Rani's husband has planned to buy land in Panna and build a house on it.
