This is the dramatic moment a flood broke through a reservoir wall, spilling over a road in Thailand.

Drone footage shows the water washing away a 30-metre section of the highway linking Srisaket province to Roi Et province following days of heavy rain on September 25.

The water pressure had built up from continuous downpours and finally tore through the road, rendering it impassable to motorists.

Drivers were advised to use alternative routes, while farmers in the surrounding area scrambled to deliver grass to their cows, which were stranded in 'islands' amid the flood.

One local was reportedly swept away after trying to help the livestock, but was safely rescued by villagers and Rasi Police.

Chamras Suanchan, director of the Srisaket Irrigation Project, said repairs are now underway. He also urged the residents to be vigilant of flash floods and move their belongings to higher ground.

The incident comes ahead of Typhoon Noru, which is expected to hit Thailand on Wednesday or Thursday. The torrential storm has already caused nine deaths and displaced tens of thousands in the Philippines.
