A son helped his dad rescue a fox cub that had its head stuck in a glass jar that had been fly-tipped on the side of the road.

When Harry Friswell, 13, and his dad Nigel were walking around their farm in Bedworth, Warks, England, on May 10, they noticed their horses were galloping around anxiously. They walked over to understand what was happening.

This footage shows Nigel, 45, holding a fox cub that had managed to get its head wedged into the top of a discarded mayonnaise jar.

While Harry held the cub gently in place, his dad smashed the glass with a hammer being careful not to injure the animal, which happily ran off into a nearby field once free.

Harry’s mum Sarah said: “My horses were in the field and they started galloping around upset so Nigel went to see what was wrong, that’s when he found the fox. Harry felt really anxious and upset in case they couldn’t get the jar off. He didn’t want it to suffocate and die. He was so relieved and happy to see the fox run away. He just hopes it found its way back to its mother".

Sarah said that the jar had been dumped with other rubbish in the lay-by next to the field.

“At least every week there are bags upon bags of rubbish dumped in the gateways and lay-bys nearby. There is everything from Mcdonald's wrappers, and clothes to fridges just dumped on the side of the road. It’s disgusting", she said.
